How Gonadorelin Acetate Works

Gonadorelin is the synthetic form of endogenous gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), a decapeptide produced by hypothalamic GnRH neurons. It binds to GnRH receptors (GnRHR) on anterior pituitary gonadotroph cells, triggering release of both luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). Pulsatile administration stimulates the reproductive axis, while continuous administration paradoxically downregulates it through receptor desensitization.
