Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from the immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg) with a C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro extension that enhances metabolic stability. It modulates the balance of Th1/Th2 cytokines, influences enkephalinase activity, and increases BDNF mRNA expression in the hippocampus.
